In 1945, Wollaton Park in Nottingham was used as a prisoner of war camp, housing around 4,000 captured German and Italian soldiers after World War II. Referred to as Camp 166.
There is a little-known memorial to this, down by the Lake.

The inscription reads:
These trees are a Memorial to the soldiers, airmen and prisoners of war who were here in Wollaton Park.
