Lime Tree Avenue is an avenue of lime trees located in Wollaton Park, Nottingham, originally planted about 1700, with current trees dating back to around 1840.
The avenue was originally planted in the early 19th century as part of the landscaping of the Wollaton Park estate. The trees were carefully selected and planted in a double row, forming a dramatic and imposing entrance to the park.
Today, Lime Tree Avenue is a striking sight, with its tall, mature trees forming a shaded canopy overhead.
Wildlife includes nuthatches, tree-creepers and woodpeckers.
The trees in Lime Tree Avenue are carefully maintained to ensure their health and longevity. The avenue is regularly pruned and thinned to promote healthy growth and dead or diseased trees are removed and replaced as necessary.
