The Cattle Pond is a man-made, fenced-off, pond located in the northeastern corner of Wollaton Park, between Pilkington’s Paddock and the lake.
It was originally built in the early 19th century to provide water for the livestock that grazed in the surrounding fields. The pond is filled from a spring in Pilkingtons Paddock and rain runoff. The water from the pond drains into the Lake via the Ha-Ha.
Wildlife includes dragonflies and sticklebacks. Wildflowers include buttercups, silverweed and Watercress.
