June 2025
This newsletter highlights upcoming events, park news, and volunteer opportunities. Planning permission has been granted for the Walled Garden bothy restoration. Announcement of the search for a new Treasurer. The Walled Garden Project has begun wall restoration and pathway construction. The establishment of a tree nursery and a stumpery in the formal garden. January 2025
An update on the proposed new management model for Wollaton Hall and Park, which may include entry charges. Updates on the Formal Garden, Walled Garden, Pond Restoration and new tree nursery. October 2024
Kevin stepped down as the Chair of FoWP after four years of service. He will remain involved as a committee member. Helen Mitchem is the new Chair of FoWP. FoWP won a Nottingham Award for its contributions to Wollaton Hall & Park. The scaffolding has been removed from the Hall. This year’s planting in the formal garden was restricted due to council funding challenges. The Wollaton Walled Garden Open Days are going from strength to strength. A fashion show was held to raise funds for the fountain restoration.
August 2024
The AGM will be held in September and nominations are open for new committee members. The FoWP is seeking help with social media management, student outreach, and meeting minutes.
The Wollaton Walled Garden Project recently held a successful Summer Fair and is open for self-guided tours during Heritage Open Days.
The newsletter also covers other park news, including the discovery of a Jurassic era reptile fossil. It discourages feeding the deer and provides information about a new sensory garden. Finally, the FoWP is interested in volunteers to lead informative walks in the park.
May 2024
