The first weekend of January brought arctic temperatures, plunging to -5°C and transforming the lake into a frozen surface. Intrigued by mysterious sounds emanating from the ice, park visitors were captivated. Local resident Yi, captured these eerie sounds on video, attributing them to the fascinating phenomenon known as Singing Ice.
Singing ice is a natural phenomenon that occurs when ice sheets crack and groan due to changes in temperature, pressure, or internal stresses. These movements create vibrations that can produce a range of sounds, from low humming and rumbling to eerie creaking and moaning. (More…)
