The absence of rabbits in Wollaton Park has long been a curious question, especially given their large population on the nearby University campus.
While often said there are no rabbits in the park, this has been based on a lack of reported sightings. With the numerous talented wildlife photographers regularly capturing images within the park and sharing them on our Facebook group, it seemed highly likely that a rabbit would have been spotted by now if any were present.
Remember the wildlife cameras we deployed for the hedgehog survey? Well, one of them has captured a rather surprising image!
Interestingly, the camera that took this incredible shot was technically positioned just outside the park boundary, along Lime Tree Avenue leading from Middleton Boulevard to the Park entrance.

So, while the mystery of rabbits within the main park area might continue for a little longer, this image proves they are certainly in the vicinity!
Keep your eyes peeled on your next visit – could you be the first to officially spot a rabbit inside Wollaton Park? Let us know if you do!
