Wollaton Park in Nottingham is home to the Nottingham Crocus (Crocus vernus), a lilac spring flower considered locally uncommon. This species, introduced from Southern Europe in the 15th century, has naturalised in areas like The Meadows, University Park, and notably Wollaton Park, becoming a unique aspect of the city’s plant heritage.

Wollaton Park Rangers undertook bracken removal to support the Nottingham Crocus’s growth and natural spread.
