This week marked the start of a new series of Ranger-led volunteer sessions, beginning with a daffodil planting event.

A thrilling discovery occurred during the digging when Volunteer Ranger Laura stumbled upon a bottle bearing the chilling warning “NOT TO BE TAKEN.” Research suggests this intriguing artefact dates to the 1950s and likely held Iodene, a disinfectant commonly used by the military, aligning with the period when Wollaton Park served as an Army base.

Watch this space for future ranger-led conservation session dates – you never know what you will find!
