Rhododendron Taming

This morning, a dedicated team of FoWP volunteers braved the elements to tame the rhododendrons around the lake.

We started with clear skies and a sense of purpose. The rhododendrons, while stunning when in bloom, had become a bit overzealous, encroaching on the path and obscuring views of the lake.

We filled 4 large bags of cuttings, but as the morning wore on, the clouds burst. What began as a sprinkle soon transformed into a full-blown downpour.

Undeterred, the team donned raincoats and persevered. We weren’t about to let a little water dampen our spirits (or our progress). By the time we finished, the path was clear, the view of the lake unobstructed.

Sure, we were soaked, but the satisfaction of a job well done, the knowledge that we’d improved this special place for everyone to enjoy, and the camaraderie forged in the face of a little drizzle – that’s what makes being a part of the FoWP so rewarding.

So, the next time you’re strolling around the lake and soaking in the view, take a moment to appreciate the hard work of your friendly FoWP volunteers! And who knows, maybe you’ll even be inspired to join us on our next adventure.
