In November 2024, our incredible volunteers began clearing the area between the inner and outer walls on the East side of the Walled Garden.
Today, a dedicated team of 12 volunteers continued the bramble and bindweed clearance work, and found time to plant fifty (yes 50) saplings!
These donated broadleaf trees, a mix of Oak, Beech, Wild Cherry, Elder and Horse Chestnut, will be nurtured here for about five years before being transplanted into the park.
A massive thank you to all who participated – a well-deserved free coffee!
UPDATE 18th January 2025.
The team returned to the tree nursery to continue the clearance work, and put tree guards around the saplings, to protect them from the Muntjac deer and rodents seen in the vicinity.
We also received a kind donation of more trees, that will be planted at a future date.
