In November a team of volunteers returned to Lodge 1 to tidy it up.
During the session information came to light that an American soldier called Fred Hall volunteered for gate duty during the war and was billeted in Lodge 1. After the war, he returned to Nottingham and used his skills in using explosives to work at Bestwood Pit.
